The pigs are getting closer

Apparently, pigs have now been found found getting sick with the avian ‘flu. This puts them one step (trotter?) closer to the birds… and the rest of the world one step closer to needing another turn of phrase.

Skunk Days of Summer

This month I think I’ve encountered (for some definitions of “encounter”) more skunks than I ever have before. Not that I’ve been sprayed myself, thankfully, but I’ve certainly been a lot more aware of them, so to speak.

It’s my sister’s birthday today… she’s turning old. Not as old as I am, though — all these years and the absolute difference is as great as ever. I just realized that, together, we’ve turned 50 this year. That’s kind of an odd thought.

Clothed captioning

I’ve been watching TV lately with the volume way down low and captioning turned on - mostly because then I can miss the overly-loud commercials.
I don’t know if they still use [people][1] or if most shows (live news, etc.) are usually done with computers. That would certainly explain the frequent errors, especially on homophones. [...]

Last week, it was innocent hubcaps carried off by some unscrupulous collector of spare parts for my car. This week, someone was dumb enough to leave the passenger window down just enough (evidently) for an arm to reach in and unlock the passenger door. The Great Hubcap Caper

Parked at the free commuter lot today, ’cause I had to go in extra early. Came back to pick up the car at the end of the day, both my front hubcaps were gone. They didn’t fall off, but why would someone want two beatup stock hubcaps for a cheap 8-year-old car?
