I almost wish I weren’t moving

This week is “resident appreciation week” at my apartment complex. This must be a new thing, since none of the people I know who lived here last summer ever mentioned it. They left flyers on our doorsteps announcing it last week, with the big feature being a presentation from the “pampered chef” people. “Yawn,” I thought, and “I didn’t realize this was a [pampered chef](http://www.pamperedchef.com) kind of apartment complex.”

Then on Monday, they left a card for me. “With Sincere Appreciation”, and I felt Sincerely Appreciated. (Not as much so as a rebate on the rent would’ve made me, but it’s something.)

On Tuesday, it was a potted miniature palm tree. Handy, since my last plant died a month or so (some sort of mite, I think – saw something crawling on the underside of the leaves. Ick.). Perhaps this one will last.

Wednesday, it’s a CD case to slip onto the visor of a car, and a coupon for Domino’s that apparently includes a free DVD.

It’ll be interesting to see what they bring tomorrow :) Almost too bad I’d already decided to move… not that a potted palm really outweighs a much shorter commute, a quieter apartment and cheaper rent.
