I found one!

Poor results and experiments that fail often get blamed on “lab gremlins”. (Exact term probably varies.) These are invisible, of course, and extremely hard to catch. I suspect, though, that I found one in my data. He popped right out of the 2-d correlation. The initial identification was a face or monkey, but then we noticed the arms reaching out to misalign the instrument and it became clear. (Warning: not safe for lab)
