Now that was a good day.
Aug 7th 2004Wallabyheart & nerd alert
Been a long week, but the end was worth it…. finished up the last of the [boring fluoride experiments](http://orangewallaby.net/wall/index.php?p=96) on Monday. Pretty good results, although they didn’t agree 100% with the calculated values… but then, that’s probably just as well, for people to believe the conclusion (that fluoridated water doesn’t actually inhibit acetylcholinesterase). Dull work, but nice to know I can still act like an analytical chemist after unexpectedly turning into a physical chemist last fall. And it’s another paper, which isn’t exactly a bad thing.
Then one of our collaborators came up with a completely new (well, new to us) way of testing bones, and built a very elegant apparatus for doing it in our laser system. Hooked it up this week, and after an extra day tweaking the laser a bit, got some of the best spectra I’ve ever taken (“ever” being all of 8 months now). Then I played solitaire all afternoon ’cause it was Friday afternoon, in August, advisor’s out of town, and I really didn’t feel like doing much of anything.
Got the final plans worked out for the details for when I move, end of the month. At least, I hope they’re final, and that my new roomie and I are agreed on exactly how it’s going to work… occasionally we’re prone to miscommunicate. Gonna be odd having a roommate again, but nice overall. And nicer to get into a cheaper apartment closer to campus with a washer and dryer.
And then tonight I find that [Mustard Plug](http://www.mustardplug.com) are coming to town next month. Yay!
