Vacation!
Visiting my parents for Thanksgiving, for the first time since I was a senior in high school. Except that I wasn’t actually “visiting” then, since I lived here. Which sort of makes this the first time I’ve *ever* visited my parents for Thanksgiving — which sounds even worse.
It’s not that I haven’t wanted to, of course, but going to college four states away, and grad school another 3 states beyond that, doesn’t give a whole lot of options for getting home this time of the year. “We hadn’t realized,” my mom said; I hadn’t either, but I was very glad Delta still had tickets available.
Didn’t even bring the laptop, for once; really thought about it, but decided it wasn’t really a vacation-y thing to do. Only minor withdrawal symptoms so far 
One of the nice things about going home, of course, is getting to see all my childhood books again. Nearly through The White Mountains again already; I think I still like the comic book “graphic novel” version that was serialized in Boy’s Life slightly better; I wonder if it’s been published all together anywhere. (Can’t find it on Amazon, although they do know about a prequel which I haven’t seen.) Might have to take some of them back to Michigan with me. (But not the Christmas ornaments… can’t “move out” that much without somewhere more permanent to move into. Sorry, Mom.)

I’ll continue to hold the Christmas tree ornaments hostage, to ensure your occasional return. Glad you were here for once!
