Spent the afternoon coming up with a heat sink to put on the controller for a new part. Wound up with a metal box that wraps around the board — protection and cooling in one simple device. Of course, the satisfaction is slightly muted by the fact that it’s not *my* controller, it’s for someone else’s project. But it goes on “my” instrument, so it’ll be useful someday. Maybe.
Cathy’s interested. Woohoo! Problem: Neither one of us is sure where we’re going to be over the next 4-5 years… finishing up degrees, post-docs, finding long term faculty jobs… it’s kind of a mess. But…. it’s not really on us to “fix” things, just to recognize each step in the right path as we come to it. And at least we’re sure that we do want to share that path, wherever it winds up 
As I was coming out of the gym this evening, passed by a girl who was singing along with her Discman — “do not be discouraged, God does not forget”. Her singing wasn’t all that good but her timing couldn’t have been better. Indeed, He does not.

Praise God — He does not forget, and He does not ignore you — He is always there when you need Him and even when you think you don’t. Hang in there!
