Been a while since the last update. (Obviously.) Mostly just a lack of news worth sharing. Since the last post, I’ve…
* turned 28. (Most likely the last year my age will be a perfect age.)
* thought of three experiments and worked on the software needed to do them.
* set up a calendar for the group to schedule time on the different instruments, partly motivated by the
* three days I spent grumbling about someone else being on “my” instrument (well, the one that I need for the three experiments… it’s shared, clearly).
* confessed my secret shame to Cathy… I used to be (gasp) pre-med. (Nothing against students headed to med school, but the ones here, and apparently also at her undergrad, have a well-deserved reputation for being utter pains about grades, while at the same time caring nothing at all for actually understanding the material. It’s gotten to the point where I’ll never go to any doctor that graduated college here.)
* was relieved when she guessed we could still be friends, since it was organic chemistry that saved me from the dark side. (Organic was about 20 times more interesting than the general biology class I took that same year. Sorry, Dr. Owens, but I had absolutely no desire to spend the night in the Atlanta airport reading the biology book… but finished the rest of the orgo book instead.)
* sliced my finger open when trimming a test specimen, then went to the gym instead of the hospital. (It’s not *that* bad. Really.)
