Evolutionary Theorist Inspired by Wells

Human Species ‘May Split in Two’, says Oliver Curry of the London School of Economics.

On the one hand, this is nothing new — as the BBC article mentions this was “predicted” decades ago in “The Time Machine”.

On the other hand, this is nothing new — once again, evolutionary theory posits the idea of a ’superior’ race and an ‘inferior’ one. The only difference is that this time, they haven’t separated yet.

On the bright side, it should be quite easy to check Mr. Curry’s theories of what will happen over the next thousand years, by looking for similar changes over the last thousand. He predicts that the “good” race will become taller and live longer. Well, that’s happened. Not due so much to “evolution”; it’s fairly obvious that better nutrition and vastly better medical care have been responsible. Is “growing enough food and knowing about vitamins” an “evolutionary adaptation”?

Next development — Evolutionary theorist reads Jules Verne, predict that man will evolve the use of submarines “within the next 2000-5000 years”.
