hard to post when you’re sick
Also hard to work, or cook, or do laundry, or any number of other things I’d planned for this week. Which kind of leaves me playing catchup this weekend, unfortunately. Whine, whine.
One thing I need to do this month is my data meeting — a chance to sit down with my committee, show them too many slides with all my data, and say “can you pass me now? good!” At least, that’s the way it *ought* to go. Of course, the average student has worked on their PhD project for 4 years by the time he/she does the data meeting, and I’ve been doing this one for 2. And I’m still not quite sure it’s working.
On the bright side, one thing I’ve learned here is that there’s always a way around the rules, provided your advisor (or some other potent patron) can be bothered the system in the right way. Mine definitely agrees that I’m ready to move on, I’m carefully stacking my committee with people who will either agree or not care anyway, and so I’m guardedly optimistic.
But busy.
So, upgrading this site to wordpress 2.0, for instance, will wait until after the data meeting. I don’t see any big new features anyway. Then again, an electronic recipe file was an entirely practical way to spend an afternoon. (Feel free to peruse and contribute.)
