Not sure this is wise.

There are some things that scientists can do. Actually, there’s a lot that scientists can do, but not all of it is necessarily a good idea. (There’s a character in a book I recently re-read (”The Chaos Balance”, by LE Modesitt), an engineer-turned-wizard, who muses that his tombstone probably ought to read “it seemed like a good idea at the time”.)
It was one thing when they allowed a cockroach to control a robot and run around the lab. Letting mice or rats do it is fine, too.
But now they’ve let a slime mold control a robot. I’ve grown slime molds; it was neither my most successful nor my most enjoyable science fair project. I do not remember ever thinking of them as a creature that really needed the power of mobility. Let alone giant crushing claws. (OK, so I’m kidding about the claws.)
Time to round up the villagers and hand around the pitchforks!
And yes, all this did arise from needing a quick distraction before my committee assembles in 45 minutes to review my data. Time to start the coffee — I got sedatives to slip into theirs.
